I Shop Because I Love (you all, I mean, not the shopping, although I love that, too)
Since I am always going on about how the A-line skirt is the PERFECT SKIRT, no matter what your body type, I feel compelled to find one that you can ALL wear. And afford.
Voila!

J. Crew linen sailor skirt, $19.99-$49.99
Available in red, amber, and navy blue (and white, but DO NOT BE TEMPTED--the white is totally see through, trust me) in sizes 0 to 14. Light weight and flattering and MACHINE WASHABLE (hang to dry). Dress it down with a tee or tank or up with a lightweight sweater or blouse.
But get it now, before they're all gone. And yes, I bought one for myself, in navy blue. Why do you ask?

I love that skirt, but I can't deal with linen even though it feels so nice to wear. I can't sit down without covering it in wrinkles.
my concern is the sailor flap. I feel like it'll draw attention to any stomach pouch you have. And that's not a good thing.
I can't wear an a-line, no kidding. Straight skirts look best on me. I, too, wonder if the "flap" would draw attention to the tummy area.
I love this blog and always enjoy reading the entries, but if this skirt only goes up to size 14, it's not something we can "all" wear. Just a gentle reminder.
Rebecca, it comes in 16, too, if that helps at all.
I take issue with $50 being something all can afford, too! ($19.99 is only for the white)
Ah well.
I'm standing by the skirt, for a couple of reasons. The style--A line, cut on the bias, hitting just below the knee--is universally flattering. Linen is washable and lightweight; to avoid the wrinkles, hang dry and DO NOT IRON (seriously). And the sailor flap is surprisingly forgiving; in fact, one thing I loved about the skirt was how nicely the skirt hid my post-baby roll.
That is all.
Honestly! It's impossible to please every body and every budget in every post. Give the girl a break!
I love this skirt. In fact, I submitted it to the Style For Mom blog - I think the white would make a great beach cover-up. I do wish the sale price on the colors was a bit more affordable, though.
I love this skirt, too. I am wondering if they have it in a petite length. I LOVE knee-length--or even better, an inch or two above knee--A-line skirts, but I'm only 5'3" so what is cute in theory is often dowdy-looking on me (and I know, I could get it shortened, but it's so much simpler if I can find it a bit shorter to begin with).
I thank goodness Susan gives us advice! Seriously. I wasn't insulting. Just voicing an opinion.
I love the skirt, and I love linen, and I love J. Crew, and I hate that I can't afford it. Bah.
No offense taken, Brandy--or anyone else.
You all are the best, you know. Really.
For the record...I bought a navy blue banana republic a-line skirt two weeks ago because you always say so (and I love it).
