I Ask, You Answer: Tell Me Where You Shop

I have to confess something: I'm in a rut. I tend to shop at the same three or four places all the time (attentive readers can probably name them, in fact), but I know there are more great stores out there that I'm just not thinking of. Over the weekend, I was browsing around at Boden USA, for example, and I found this FABULOUS trench coat. And this one! So very cute!

I've never bought anything from Boden (although I might have to order that first coat, perhaps in navy), but I'm sure some of YOU have. And I'm certain that you have other places you like to shop, or just browse. So help me out, and share some of your favorite sites in the comments. Tell me what you love about them and why you keep going back.

Thank you!

I tend to shop at New York and Co, for the simple reason that they are the only place I've found outside of England that has button down shirts that fit me. I have unusually narrow yet high shoulders. Plus they tend to have clean lines, which I like. I haven't bought any clothes anywhere in about a year though, so cannot vouch for their current collection.

White House/Black Market has some really cute items and great sales. If you need a special occasion dress they are the store for you. I've also found several post-baby, what I like to call "go-out" tops at Georgiou.

I love Anthropologie, both the store and online, even though it is pricey, just because they have interesting clothes. Otherwise, I live in J. Jill since I stopped working.

I tend to shop at the same stores as you do. Ann Taylor Loft sometimes has a few good varitions of what you find at the regular AT. I also love Anthropologie, but I haven't been in one in several years as we don't have one anywhere near us. They have great clothes that seem fasionable without being too trendy. They are just different enough to be interesting. I'm interested in seeing where else to people shop too.
Thanks for the sweater pilling info. I actually received a j crew cash. sweater for Christmas and bought another when they went on sale. They are lucious-- excellent quality and so soft. If anyone needs a new sweater go take advantage of their end of season sale!

I'm thinking that I shop at a lot of the same stores that you do... particularly J Crew. I like Banana Republic (basics) and love Anthropologie (fun funky stuff). I usually buy jeans at Nordstrom. I discovered Boden last year and really love it. I have only ordered shoes at this point but find probably 13 or so things from every new catalogue.

I rely heavily on Nordstrom and www.nordstrom.com. Mostly because of their easy return policy. They also have pretty good sales so, I tend to scour the sale section first. Old Navy is my shorts & t-shirt staple place. I also love this store in Sacramento (also in SF) http://www.rikidesign.com/fall2006.shtml#img_prev - I sometimes just look at the site to get ideas for outfits.

LOVE J.Jill...their cotton shirts get softer as you wash them. And they have great colors, too. I'm also a big Ann Taylor fan- very classic pieces.

Forth And Towne is a place I would love to shop but they haven't opened nearby. It's owned by the gap and that company is in financial troubl so I'm very afraid it won't be here for a while.

I've bought quite a few things at Boden and Mini Boden. My daughter has this striped duffel coat I got for half price last year and I swear every where we go that coat brings joy. People are always telling us how much they love it.

No one does that when I wear my boden stuff, but you know, I like it. (Make sure you measure yourself, the sizes are UK)m

I love H&M for modern, slightly funky pieces. They also carry wonderful basics, and everything is priced nicely. I was in there the other day and they have some georgeous wrap dresses for about $35. And their kids clothes are just too cute.

I browse EVERYWHERE.

I browse at Ann Taylor (who is very anti-boob if you ask me, because nothing there will EVER fit my ample ta-tas), White House Black Market, Talbots, Chicos, J Crew, Gap... our selection on the rock here is pretty small. So I browse the internet and the magazines as well.

I SHOP at Macy's, TJ Maxx, Old Navy (flip flops, tee-shirts and the occasional odd piece) and Lane Bryant (who is very pro-boob, I might add).

My goal is to see what's IN, and from that repository, I then go shop in places with clothes that tend to work with my ridiculous body type, see what translates well from Mannequin Size to Macy's Thanksgiving Day Float Size, and then see who has it for the least amount of money.

So I can buy shoes to go with it.

That's my story.

Don't mock me.

I stumbled across your blog and am ecstatic to find other people who shop at Boden. A salesperson in Anthropolgie recommended it to me about two years ago and I've been in love ever since (after figuring out size conversions between US and UK, that is).
